How to Apply

Connect With Your Vet

NH Pet Aid is currently accepting

 applications from pet owners living

in Strafford and Rockingham counties.

Some Essentials to Know Before You Apply:

  • Your cat or dog must have an urgent, potentially treatable condition or injury with a favorable prognosis.

  • NH Pet Aid strives to help pet owners with the greatest financial need. Therefore, we ask applicants if they qualify for any Federal, State, or local community assistance programs. Examples include but are not limited to:

    • Medicaid

    • TANF benefits

    • Unemployment

    • Disability benefits

    • Food Assistance (SNAP, WIC)

    • Housing and/or utility assistance programs

  • You must provide an estimate/treatment plan from your veterinarian with your application. We cannot process an application until your pet is examined by a licensed veterinarian.

  • We do not fund basic care, such as neutering/spaying, annual wellness visits, immunizations, flea/tick medications, heartworm preventative medication, routine dental care and euthanasia. Please ask your veterinary practice for low-cost or free clinics. Or refer to our Resources page for additional information.

  • NH Pet Aid will not pay for veterinarian expenses already incurred.

  • Because of limited available funds, NH Pet Aid can only provide qualified applicants with one-time grants.

Because we are run by volunteers, we will respond to your case as soon as we can--often within two hours if all information is correctly submitted.

NH Pet Aid does not offer approvals by phone. If your pet’s life is in immediate danger, you and your licensed veterinarian must decide how to proceed. Veterinarians who provide service prior to funding application approval do so at their own risk. We do not reimburse for treatment already completed.  Incomplete applications will delay the approval process and potential funding. Applying for aid does not guarantee assistance.

Thank you for your understanding and support!
